DOCTOR OF NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE

HBSc, ND

Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine

Will has been extremely passionate about self-care and ways to optimize health with the use of natural modalities throughout his entire life. From pathology specific diet modifications, nutraceutical and orthomolecular supplementation, to botanical, homeopathic, physical, Traditional Chinese and pharmaceutical medicine, Will has acquired a range of knowledge and tools to assist with his patient’s unique healthcare needs and goals.

Will understands the importance of movement when it comes to recovery, optimal health and disease prevention. As early as 5 years old, Will has found ways to expend his excess energy competitively and athletically. From winning first place at the 1995 municipality of metropolitan Toronto’s bike rodeo, training and completing Toronto’s 2014 Goodlife Fitness Half Marathon, the 2014 Tough Mudder obstacle course in Barrie, Ontario, to hiking mountains, kayaking, swimming, biking, rollerblading, weight training, and more.

Born and raised in and around Toronto, Ontario, Will studied Human Kinetics at the University of Guelph where he received his Honour’s Bachelor degree. During his time in Guelph, Will worked in the Human Health and Nutritional Science (HHNS) department assisting with breast cancer and HIV research and eventually completed his undergraduate research manuscript and literature review on nutrition and its impact on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.

He then went on to pursue studies in Naturopathic Medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM), Toronto Campus, receiving his Naturopathic Doctor degree. During his time at CCNM, Will was a first-year clinic representative for his student body and in his third year the Philosophy Chair for the Naturopathic Medical Student Association (NMSA). As a CCNM student, he published a narrative review in the 2019 URNCST journal that explored colostrum supplementation to increase lean body mass with training. As the Philosophy Chair of the NMSA, Will presented at the 2019 Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) conference in Vancouver educating individuals on the benefits of Naturopathic Medicine and explored various naturopathic therapeutic modalities in relation to mental health.

Trained in primary care and with curiosity and passion for both Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, in Will’s last year at CCNM, he helped create a 1-month long externship to Shanghai, China where a small group of highly motivated students shadowed doctors in 3 different hospitals (Shuguang Hospital, Huashan Hospital and Eastern Branch/International Hospital) affiliated with the Shanghai University of TCM (SHUTCM) and Fudan University. SHUTCM was three weeks of clinical rotations through the acupuncture, tuina, cardiovascular, internal medicine, endocrinology, orthopedics, genitourinary, gynecological, oncology and gastroenterology departments. Fudan University was a week-long of clinical rotations in the department of rehabilitation, working with a variety of out-patients with neurological and musculoskeletal conditions including, but not limited to stroke, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and post-surgical management. Will also applied to and worked within the sports medicine focus shift at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic and worked in the outpatient Brampton Naturopathic Teaching Clinic at the Brampton Civic Hospital as a clinic intern affiliated with CCNM.

After graduating CCNM, will eventually moved to British Columbia where he studied for and received his registration with the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia (CNPBC), British Columbia Naturopathic Doctors (BCND) and Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND), in order to provide top quality naturopathic care that is individualized to his patient’s healthcare needs. Will also acquired his acupuncture certificate, has access to primary care lab diagnostics and is currently working towards pharmaceutical prescription authority and injection/intravenous therapies. As a results-based practitioner, Will works in collaboration with your primary medical healthcare team to meet your specific needs and goals.
