Shota came to Canada from Chiba, Japan in 2023. Since coming to Canada, he began his career in North America as a Sports Performance Intern at Brock University in Ontario and recently moved here to Nanaimo to begin his work with Prime.

At university, he majored in Athletic Training and received his certification from the Japan Sports Association. Additionally, he studied strength & conditioning and obtained his certification (CSCS) right after graduation, and has supported athletes from both a medical and performance perspective. During his career, he has worked exclusively with various levels of athletes, and he has provided holistic support to athletes from post-operative rehabilitation to lifting training.

In 2023, Shota earned his Master’s Degree in Exercise Science (Strength & Conditioning), deepening his scientific knowledge and combining it with his field experience to create a flexible approach that respects both science and field.

His coaching style of leading by example and being involved in a hard-working culture at all times will surely help various athletes and give them the opportunity to achieve their goals and grow.
